Terms of service.
Last updated 8 August 2026. Written in plain English on purpose. If anything here is unclear, ask us and we will explain it.
Who you are dealing with
CVShark is a service operated by CVShark (ABN 67 885 894 518), a sole trader based in Victoria, Australia. Our details are on the public ABN register. In these terms, “we” and “us” means that operator, and “you” means the person using the service. You can reach us at support@cvshark.com.au.
Accepting these terms
By using CVShark you agree to these terms. If you do not agree with them, please do not use the service. You must be at least 16 years old to create an account.
Your account
Keep your sign-in details secure, and let us know promptly if you think someone else has access to your account. You are responsible for what happens under it. You can close your account at any time.
Your content stays yours
Your resume, your job ads and everything you write remain yours. You give us permission to store and process them only so far as we need to in order to run the service for you: to check a resume, tailor it, generate a cover letter, and let you export the result.
We do not sell your content, and we do not use it to train AI models. What happens to it is set out in our privacy policy.
The documents CVShark produces for you are yours to use however you like. We claim no ownership of them.
Using it honestly
CVShark works with the experience you give it. It reframes and reorders what is already true; it does not invent qualifications, and it is built to flag it when a resume overstates things. You are responsible for the accuracy of what you tell it and of what you send to an employer.
Please do not use CVShark to break the law, to impersonate someone else, to upload another person's information without their consent, or to attack or overload the service. We may suspend an account that does.
What our AI output is, and is not
Scores, tailored resumes, cover letters and suggestions are generated by AI. They are informed suggestions, not professional career, recruitment or legal advice, and they are not a prediction or guarantee of an interview or a job offer.
AI gets things wrong. Read what CVShark produces before you send it anywhere, and correct anything that is not accurate. The final document is yours, and so is the decision to send it.
Free and paid plans
The free plan includes a resume check with no account required, plus a daily allowance of AI features once you sign up. Pro is a paid subscription with higher limits, billed in Australian dollars through our payment provider, Stripe. Current prices are on the pricing page.
A Pro subscription renews automatically at the end of each billing period, at the price shown when you subscribed, until you cancel. We will tell you by email before any price change takes effect, and you can cancel before it does.
Cancelling, and refunds
You can cancel at any time from your billing settings. There is no cancellation fee and nothing to phone anyone about. Your Pro features continue until the end of the period you have already paid for, and it does not renew after that.
We do not generally refund the unused part of a period you chose to cancel partway through. That is separate from, and does not limit, your rights under the Australian Consumer Law: if something goes wrong on our side you may be entitled to a refund regardless of this paragraph. If you think that is your situation, email us and we will deal with it properly.
Availability and changes
CVShark is early-stage software run by one person. We aim to keep it available and working, but there will be downtime, and features will change as we learn what helps. We will not remove something you are paying for without telling you.
Your rights under Australian Consumer Law
Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies any guarantee, right or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law that cannot lawfully be excluded. Among other things, that means our services come with a guarantee that they will be provided with due care and skill, and will be reasonably fit for the purpose we describe.
Where we are legally allowed to limit our liability, we limit it to resupplying the service, or paying the cost of having it resupplied. Beyond those non-excludable rights, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, and specifically not for hiring outcomes: whether an employer replies, interviews you or hires you is not something any tool controls.
Ending the arrangement
You can stop using CVShark and delete your account whenever you like. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, or where we are required to by law. If we close your account and you have paid for a period you cannot now use, we will refund the unused part unless the closure was because of serious misuse.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the product changes. The date at the top shows when they last changed. If a change materially affects paying subscribers, we will email them before it takes effect.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Victoria, Australia, and the courts of Victoria have jurisdiction. If something goes wrong, please email us first. Most things are faster to fix than to argue about.
